Got Wegmans?

Can you tell I'm happy to be standing in front of Wegmans? The only grocery store worth going to anywhere. It's the one store I kept telling people about when I lived in California. Wegmans was a great store when I lived in Rochester and it has only gotten better. I even have a Wegmans Shoppers Card. The Pittsford Wegmans is overwhelming. This particular Wegmans on East Henrietta Road will soon be replaced by a much bigger and better store right around the corner.

Iron Works

Down along the banks of the Rock River in Beloit you'll find the buildings that formally housed the Beloit Corporation, also known as the Iron Works. Beloit Corporation produced paper machines. My first real job out of high school and after the army was working in the research division of Beloit Corporation.

The art pictured above is on the back side of the former Beloit Corporation building. You can click on the image to view a larger sample.

To TV or not TV

After being without a TV the past four years, I decided it was time to see what I've been missing. Turns out, not much. But the Tour de France is on and thats great television. My niece Emily has loaned me the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy and now I'm hooked on that show. I also volunteered to review submissions to the Beloit International Film Festival so I've been watching some bad movies and a few really good movies.

You'll notice that I got a rather BIG screen. What was I thinking?

Photos by A. Sue Weisler

I met a friend for coffee at Panera in Rochester over the 4th of July weekend. Sue and I worked together for three years at RIT. She's still shooting photos there and brought a camera with her and at one point pulled it out and started shooting. Here are a couple of images from that shoot.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress

When I was in Rochester last week, the moon was a sliver in the western sky. So I grabbed my tripod and stood out in a mosquito infested field for 30 minutes to get this shot. I hope this will be the first of a series of images of a cresent moon. Thanks to my inspiration for this idea.

Superman Blues

It's not easy being Superman. The lack of phone booths with doors that close prevents me from changing into my Superman suit!
