Coffee Break

It seems that cycling and coffee just go together. Some rides started out with coffee; the Saturday mornings at the Bean Scene in Sunnyvale, California, or a mid-ride break at Peet's Coffee in Los Altos, California, years ago.

Since I've been back in Wisconsin, I stop at Pleasant Street Coffee in downtown Beloit and either sit out on the patio that overlooks the Rock River or get a cup to go and enjoy sitting in a small park on the corner of downtown streets.

So when you're out on your bike, stop by Pleasant Street Coffee and join me for a cup.

Brooks B17

After riding for years and never really liking any saddle I had used, I finally decided to try a Brooks B17. Well, what was I waiting for? Out of the box, it has been the most comfortable saddle I've ever used.

I now have a Brooks B17 on my Surly Long Haul Trucker, my Surly Cross Check, my TREK 8000 mountain bike, and a Brooks B17 Narrow on my Cannondale Saeco CAD3 road bike.

Brooks B17. The best saddle ever!

The Company You Keep

One of the great things about bicycling is meeting new, interesting people on your rides.

Unfortunately, these guys keep showing up at the same places I do.

A Good Bike Mechanic

Keeping your bike in top shape is important. Nothing is more frustrating than going out for a ride and having mechanical problems.

So finding a good bike mechanic is critical.

Unfortunately, the only guys I could find were these. YIKES!

Introduction

Here's my first post to my blog.

I plan to use this blog to discuss bicycling in Southern Wisconsin. This will include day rides that I do as well as overnight trips I make in the coming year.
